We keep our groups small for a relaxed boat experience and respectful wildlife encounters.
Diving in Cabo Pulmo means seasonal bull shark encounters at sites like El Vencedor and massive schools of jacks forming the famous "jack tornado". Surrounded by desert landscapes and turquoise water, this scuba diving expedition takes care of all the logistics, so you can focus on meeting Baja's most iconic marine species in the wild.
Expedition Details
We start the day driving from Cabo San Lucas toward the East Cape, through scenic desert landscapes and rugged coastline. Once we reach Cabo Pulmo, we board our boat and head into the heart of the marine park to explore its coral reefs and abundant marine life. After two dives, we enjoy a fresh lunch at a local restaurant in the village before driving back to Cabo.
Dive Site Selection in Cabo Pulmo
Cabo Pulmo is one of the most carefully regulated marine parks in the world, which keeps the reef pristine but means dive sites work with a unique "lottery" system. To prevent overcrowding, the park sets weekly quotas for each site, and once a site reaches its limit, it closes until the next cycle. Access is decided through a daily draw that allows only one boat per site every hour, so specific sites can't be guaranteed in advance. We handle these logistics to secure the best possible spots for your trip, for a quiet, high-quality dive.

What are the requirements to dive Cabo Pulmo?
You need an Open Water certification or higher from any recognized agency and good general health for diving. Divers aged 10 and up are welcome, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. If you haven't dived in the last year, we recommend doing our Scuba Refresher in Cabo San Lucas before the trip.

How far is Cabo Pulmo from Cabo San Lucas?
Cabo Pulmo is about 2 hours by road from Cabo San Lucas, on the East Cape of Baja California Sur. Round-trip transportation from Cabo is included, and the full day trip lasts up to 12 hours, including two dives and lunch in the village.

When is the best time to dive Cabo Pulmo?
You can dive here all year round. From January to July the water is cooler, but marine life is especially active. From August to December it turns warm and tropical, with the clearest visibility of the year. If bull sharks are your priority, the best time to visit is from October to May.

Can you see bull sharks in Cabo Pulmo?
Yes, it's one of the few places in Mexico where you can dive with bull sharks, especially at El Vencedor. They're most common in fall and winter, from October to May, while in summer, from July to September, they become scarce or move to deeper water. Encounters are never guaranteed, and because of the park's site lottery, we can't promise a specific site in advance, but we always do our best to get the sites where the action is.

Why is Cabo Pulmo so special?
It was protected as a national park in 1995, and since then its fish biomass has grown by more than 400%, one of the most famous marine recovery stories in the world. It's also part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Gulf of California. Today, the park is home to one of the healthiest coral reefs in the region, with huge schools of fish, sharks, rays and turtles.

Is Cabo Pulmo the best place to dive in Baja California?
For many divers, yes. It's one of the healthiest marine parks in Mexico, with a thriving coral reef, huge schools of jacks and seasonal bull sharks, all in a protected area with very few boats. Other great dive spots in Baja California Sur include Gordo Banks, famous for hammerhead sharks, and the Cabo San Lucas Marine Park, just minutes from the marina. We run trips to all of them.

How much does a Cabo Pulmo diving trip cost?
The price includes two dives, round-trip transportation from Cabo San Lucas, lunch in the village, and light snacks and drinks. You'll find the current price per person in the Price & What's Included section of this page. Scuba gear rental and private trips are available as add-ons.

Can non-divers or snorkelers join the trip?
Yes. Friends or family who don't dive can join as snorkelers, subject to availability. It's a great way to share the day, visit the national park and enjoy lunch in the village together.

Can I book a private diving trip?
Yes. Our trips already run in small groups, and you can also book a fully private trip for your family or group.

What should I bring, and what's not included?
• Swimsuit, sunglasses, hat or cap • A sweater or jacket for the early drive • A camera or underwater camera • Seasickness medication, taken before boarding, if you need it Scuba gear is not included, but you can rent a full set or individual items with us. Personal travel or medical insurance is not included, and gratuities for the captain, driver and crew are always welcome but entirely up to you.
