Scuba Refresher: Back to the Water

Refresh Your Skills After Time Away from Diving

Our scuba refresher (also known as a scuba tune-up) is designed for certified divers who haven’t been in the water recently and want to get their confidence back.

We start with a casual dive theory review to see where you are at and refresh the basics. Once we go over the key concepts, we head out to calm ocean conditions for a hands-on review of buoyancy control, gear setup, and safety procedures. Everything is tailored to your comfort level so you can enjoy your dives stress-free.

Who Should Book a Scuba Refresher in Cabo?

If it's been one year or more since your last dive, a refresher is a smart way to get back into it. It's also a good fit if you've only logged a few dives since getting certified, or if you have a dive trip coming up and want to arrive already comfortable in the water.

The session takes about four hours from dock to dock and includes two dives. We put your gear together step by step, then practice the basics in shallow water before heading out.

Throughout both dives, your instructor keeps an eye on your buoyancy, hand signals, and air consumption, and shares simple tips wherever something can be smoother. Once your buoyancy feels natural again, the rest comes back quickly.

01.

What are the requirements for a Scuba Refresher in Cabo?

You need to be a certified diver at any level, and in good general health for diving. You don't need to bring your physical certification card, just let us know your level and agency when you book. Divers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

02.

Does the Scuba Refresher work with any certification agency?

Yes. The Scuba Refresher is open to certified divers from any recognized agency, such as PADI, SSI, NAUI and others. It's a practical review of the basic skills, so it works the same no matter where or with whom you got certified.

03.

What if I feel nervous or uncomfortable during the refresher dive?

That's completely normal after time away from diving, and it's exactly what the refresher is for. We start in shallow water, where you practice the basic skills at your own pace. During the dives, your instructor stays close, checks your buoyancy, signals and air consumption, and gives you tips so you feel confident again.

04.

What are the schedules and trip duration?

The Scuba Refresher includes 2 dives in the Cabo San Lucas Marine Park and lasts about 4 hours dock to dock. We have daily morning and afternoon departures, so it's easy to fit into your trip.

05.

What is not included in the price?

• Dive gear, which you can rent with us • Personal travel or medical insurance • Gratuities for the captain and crew

06.

Can I book a private Scuba Refresher in Cabo?

Yes. Our refreshers already run in very small, semi-private groups, and you can also book a private guide or a fully private trip for one-on-one attention.

07.

What should I bring on the dive boat?

Bring your swimsuit, sunglasses and a hat or cap. A camera is always a good idea for the marine life. If you're prone to seasickness, take your medication before boarding.

08.

What should I expect from Cabo scuba diving water conditions?

Conditions in the Marine Park change with the season. From January to July the water is cooler, with lots of marine life and changing visibility. From August to December it's warm and tropical, with the best visibility of the year. We choose the dive sites each day based on conditions, so your refresher dives are as comfortable as possible.
